News from Jon Edwards, HOPE Career Missionary on site:

Update from Chincha

I received an email from Pastor Jorge Watanabe of the Pentecostal Holiness Church of Peru.  He had recent visitors from the states and passed along some good news.
The overseas director for the PH church in the states, Daniel Clowers, along with an engineer and a few others, visited the church in Chincha.
They told Pastor Jorge, that they would like to rebuild the house of the pastor and hope to start bringing teams this November.
This will enable the pastor to move from the church and then the process can start to repair the church and rebuild the walls surrounding the property.

I had the opportunity last weekend to call and talk with Pastor Julio Cavassa, pastor of Betesda Church in Lima.
He had just returned from a trip to Pisco to visit the area and take down some supplies to the people affected by the quake.
Things are still moving slow and there is a need for tents and other basic staples.  Aid has been coming in, but it is not reaching  everyone who is in need.
He also told me that Bro. Benito had told him there was a tremmor in Piura and it was felt by the people living near the church.  It is strange to have them in our area, though there was an earthquake in the northern part of Peru in the early 1900's.
